Seen several R-D1x(g) at biccamera or yodobashicamera shops around in Tokyo/Yokoahama for ca. 300.000JPY.

Not quite my pricerange for a hobby.. (so I only bought a used R-D1 several month ago..)

Also the Japanese camera-market in general seem to have no real price competition..
Otherwise a two year old new cam would have been offered for more than 50% discount..

Where can you get that awesome looking grip for the R-D1? Or was that strictly part of the R-D1XG package?

Good question, checked with my R-D1 manual, there is not hint of the grip inside..

Maybe it is the normal accessory grip for the R2?/R3?/R4?
The grip of the Bessa R seems to be a little bit to small for the R-D1

No, the grip on my R2a doesn't come close to fitting. I've always found it to be very useful on the R2a and always thought that it would be a nice addition to the R-D1.

Espcially if one wants the flippable display.
The display on the R-D1x(g) is fixed.. so you can always see your nose print..
A lot of my friends did not recognize the R-D1 as a digital camera with the hidden display. Also it feels different if you are not always reminded of the digital internals of this cam.

the grip was made for the new camera and is not sold seperately from the body (i read that somewhere).
there is always the bridge grip,made for the rd1.

Instead of a grip consider the Zhou leather half-case which is cheap, excellent quality and protects the camera body.

I have the RD-1x but I didn't use the original grip.
I use Luigi case with builld-in grip instead. Unfortunately, the leather case is designed for Rd-1/Rd-1s, which the monitor is only 2" while RD-1x is 2.5". Part of the monitor will be blocked.
