Hi everyone, I am planing to buy my first cheap scanner so I can scan (only) 135mm negatives, primary b/w. I don't shoot larger formats!

I have an option of buying either new Epson V330 or used Canon 8800F (for a little bit more money). Which one would you pick in this situation?

Thanks in advance!

To scan 35mm negs, a flatbed isn't really the way to go, but if budget insists on it...

Never tried the Epsom, but I have the canon 9000f, which is pretty much the same thing as the 8800. Results with film are mixed, the neg holder doesnt hold the film flat, so you need some anti Newton glass to hold it flat.
Using the glass, results from the 9000f are good, and on medium format, excellent.
Without glass, it depends how flat your negs are...

Well, my budget is only ~$100 bucks, so flatbed is only way do go isn't it ?

Thanks for tips mugent!

There are some film scanners for around that price, but they are pretty awful, and a decent flatbed would be better, and more flexible if you ever want to scan larger film formats.

You could see if the budget permits a used Plustek or something, if you're *only* doing 35mm, it's probably worth a look.

Thanks everyone for your help. In the end i bought V330, cuz its new and I was confused with so much used gear choices i got :)
