The flimsy little 35mm negative holder broke. Where can I get a replacement or better an improved after market 35mm holder?
The MF holder works fine but the 35mm holder has almost made me want to stop shooting 35mm...

betterscanning.com is the only game in town. Epson does not sell any parts for any of their scanners.

That's pretty crappy. The scanner is pretty good but the 35mm neg. holder sucks!!! It is very flimsy and if you break it there is no replacement available?????
Betterscanning only has some anti-newton glass inserts.

I never unpacked the 35mm or otherwise neg. holders that came with my V500, I just use the crappy 35mm ones from an Epson 4990.

Apparently these guys have them :

I hear it's best to call and tell them what you need. They also have a "Live Chat" button top left of their homepage, might try that too.
I don't know the part number of the neg holder for the V500, is still use a 4490, and I remembered reading that a guys post on Flickr that had bought one for his 4490 from these people....$1.50, not bad. Give them a go, they should have it.

That's good news. I've called Epson in the past about my 1640 and lately about a V700 and was told no parts, try Office Max (honestly). If they didn't have the best affordable scanner for 4x5 & 5x7 I'd go elsewhere.

Office Max! Wow, that's kind of surprising haha. I was glad when I found National Parts as well, always good to find an OEM parts provider. I'm still surprised Epson doesn't sell these on their site though.

The v500 holder SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!! Someone needs to create and market a nicely engineered, solid, well designed, easy to use 35mm negative holder. Trust me, people would buy them!

That looks like it might be cool to try, but $50 for the 35mm holder is pretty steep.

I have these. They are actually pretty useful when your film has a barrel curve so bad that they won't sit properly in the Epson holders. They are certainly much sturdier than the Epson holders.

I got the BetterScanning kit for my V700, it's worth every penny. The ANR glass holds negs flat however curved, and the holder is far more sturdy than the Epson part.
