OK, I'm about to order a new scanner for mainly 35mm negs. I was thinking that I may sometimes scan 120 film, but that' would be very rare.

So, I'm wondering if I should go for the Epson V600 or the Plustek 7400/7600? I can get the 7400 for £180.00, the 7600 for £250.00 and the V600 for £210.00. The Plustek range of course come with Silverfast, but I own Vuescan anyway.

I scan mainly B&W, although am getting into slide at the moment.

So, should I go for the 7600 with dust removal, the 7400 with none (I am very Photoshop capable, so may never need it), or the V600? I need advice, I buy tomorrow.

For me ease of use is not a priority, image quality is No.1 and all I care about.

Thanks.

A.

Can't say anything about the two models you mentioned.
Own a Epson V700 and have mixed experiances with.
A serious problem is the curl (I shoot mostly TX) because the weak plastic film holders. They so weak, so can't hold the curling negs in the DOF of the scanner. A week of flattening under some books is necessary (or rolling the film backwards after drying).
If I haven't the need of scanning medium and large format negs I would switch to a Reflecta 135 scanner (I think the plustek is similar).
