I just brought the V600 home and upon trying to install the Epson software, the install guide crashed. This happened five times, regardless of the options I chose, so I'm going to bet that the software doesn't support OS X Lion yet.
I was planning on using it with Vuescan. Can I just download Vuescan, plug in the V600 and start scanning, or do I need to get the drivers somehow?

A lot of scanners don't work with OSXLion. Give Viewscan a shot - it is free to try. Enquiring minds will want to know!

After som googling I discovered that I could download the drivers through the OS X system update function. Seems to work fine, both with the bundled application, and Vuescan.
I forgot to bring the negatives I wanted to scan to my apartment though. Guess I'll have to train my way home tomorrow and pick them up.

There is a fast, free, and 100% reliable way to answer your question. It is the Vuescan demo version. That is exactly what it is there for.
