Epson V700 Issues

I think this is due to dust on a sensor. Something to do with the calibration process. You might get away with giving the sensor a blast with compressed air but you might need to take the glass off to give the scanner a more thorough clean if that doesn't work.
I'm possibly wrong though. It looks to be a dense line

You have some dust along the top edge of the scanner. It's where the two small square window looking spots are. Give them a wipe and you'll be fine.

The calibration area is particularly sensitive. That's IIRC the top edge of the scanner and if it's like the v600, there are what seems like a couple sensors.
Mine exhibited some banding which went away with cleaning that area, although nothing like on yours.

When this happened to my v500 I just gave it a few hard taps to the top and it has worked fine ever since.

Sounds like what I learned in Mechanical Engineering College😁. Next I’ll try the hammer!

Seriously thanks everyone for the advice. May not be as serious as I thought. Under the weather right now but will try it later.

My windows 10 went rebellious and decided not to run epson scan anymore. Guess I'll have to do a system restore aside of some hard taps which it ignores 😂

As others have said, cleaning the glass bed in the calibration gap area at the top usually solves this issue. If it doesn't, and before you start banging/slapping the scanner, try running the preview of a scan with the scanner tilted on its side at no more than 70 degrees (parts can flop around on some models if you tilt it too far) and sometimes that can dislodge some bit of gunk that has fallen on to the optical path. This is good to try first before resorting to violence ;)
