Yes, back in 2005. A camera store I used to frequent was selling Leica gear for 10% less than dealer invoice. I bought a new MP, 35mm Summicron Asph and a 90/2.8 Elmarit-M.

Used: M6TTL, M8.2, M9, 24/3.8 ASPH, 35/1.4 ASPH, 90/2.8 ASPH, plus LTM 3.5cm/3.5, 5cm/2, 9cm/4, & 13.5cm/4.5

Sold the M8.2 to purchase a used M9. Took advantage of the Leica Upgrade and traded the M9 (bad sensor) for the M-P 240. Still have the rest but at some point will sell it off as the eyes continue to age and autofocus becomes a need. ..... not just quite yet.

Yes. One camera, the ME, and just 2 lenses, the 21SEM and the T's 18-56 zoom. There's so much quality used equipment available it's hard for me to justify buying anything new anymore.

Obviously I've not avoided buying new, but often at special pricing like this year's 12% currency exchange benefit, same in a previous year buying from UK, "demo" pricing, new-old-stock, etc.

In 1983 I bought a 50mm f/2 Summicron & a 90mm Tele-Elmarit new when I was stationed in Germany. Nothing new since.

New: M9-P and Monochrom. And C-Lux 2. Only bought Zeiss lenses new x 2. Everything else (M2,5,6,II) including all Leica lenses second hand (one 28, two 35s, three 50s, three 90s, one 135.)

Does a "never used collector's item" count? No, it does not. It was "only" a 1980 M4-P, bought in 2010.

In 1979 I bought a Leica M4-2, Leitz 28/2.8 Elmarit, and a Leitz 21/3.4 Super Angulon. Not at the same time. I bought a Leica M8 when they came out, and then three years later a demo Leica M9.
