they are supposed to be very precise in focusing wide open, ok, they are not in the weight/size league of the xa, not even the canonet, but they will perform well and resist harsh conditions.
Another option: a super ikonta or similar coupled rf in medium format, and pushing film even further. You can get away with much higher iso's in MF. And they ARE small

the lens is better, slower than the canonet, full manual with speed dial on top of the camera and a good enough meter for outdoors.
it's metal robust and a good looking little camera to boot!
