Exakta lens locking lever

Does anyone know how to fit the lens locking lever, and in particular the spring? I recently acquired an RTL 100 with missing lever and managed to replace the lever with one from an Exakta with damaged mount but couldn't figure out how to fit the spring. I'm sure someone here knows.

From my foggy memory, I think the screw goes through the spring hole (between the body and the back of the lever), and the long end of the spring pushes against the outside of the mount (at least that’s how I recall them having gone on VXIIa’s etc). I think that long end pushes against the outside of the mount because when you press the lever to release the lens, the fact that the long end is against the outside of the mount creates that spring tension.

Someone please correct me if I’m mistaken!
