extension tubes for m6?

Do such things exist? Anyone know where I can get some and does anyone have any sample pics to post?

There are extension tubes for the heads of many Leitz lenses such as the 50mm Summicron, Hector or 90mm Elmar etc. They fit copy stand devices or adapt to the Visoflex and bellows.

The Dual Range Summicron 50 has a long focusing helical to permit close focus. It is the most practical solution to "not too close" photography with a M IMHO.

Yes they exist - the old Leitz code is 16469Y

I bought one so I could bodge together a ground glass M lens viewer to see lens flare. With a 14269 rear cap, the combo is very close to the right registration distance. I had intended to machine something more robust, but never got around to it.

No idea how Leitz intended it to be used though.

Vioflex would be the most intuitive use -- not everyone's cup of tea, obviously. There is also the dual-range Summicron w/eyes to consider. Macro work though, is not the M's strong suit. There is so much good, used SLR gear out there -- I bet you could put together a Pentax kit, including extension tubes or a bellows, for less than $150. SLR's are well-suited to this sort of work. Remember to add exposure for the extension of the lens away from the film plane.

Leitz made all sorts of extension tubes over the years including the bayonet mount extension tube 16469Y which was designed for the Visoflex II/III reflex housings. It allowed a reproduction ratio of 1:1 for 50mm lenses and 1.4:1 for 35mm lenses. Although I kind of enjoy macro work with the Visoflex, I am a bit of a gadget freak. I agree with Ben's remarks for cost and ease of use.

I did this one with a 135 Elmarit @ f8 mounted on IIIg + Viso II and extension ring. You have to a real gadget freak to use that setup!
