Anyone ever hear of or see a fake Filson bag? Particularly, the newer camera bags?
It just occurred to me that it might be another brand to fake, but google search doesn't bring up much.

So, after some delay the filson camera bag in question ( in mind anyway ) arrived. Purchased on ebay from a seller with great feedback. Great return policy. They accepted an offer of $225 for a $320 bag. Free shipping. Most places are selling it for $320. The low cost concerned me, but after finally receiving it I'm confident this bag is the genuine thing. Not a fake or blemish.
An amazing bag and fits my kit perfectly. GX7 kit, Leica D Lux, and Leica M7. Plenty room for film and much more.
Seller in case anyone is interested.

... I could see someone faking a well known brand with a good reputation, like Billingham say, but why fake a Filson when no one has heard of them?

Heck, I don't know. Never heard of Billingham until I came to this site. I knew of Filson forever.

Outside of our little circle, Filson is surely a much bigger "name."

Filson???
Filson???
Well, discriminating fine coat and sporting clothes buyers have known of Filson for decades. It's likely shabby dressers would not know of Filson, however. Also likely that Filson would not be carried in the average Mall where the riff raff shop. Only in finer specialty stores, and now apparently on eBay.
No insult intended.
Targeting a fine upscale market with a fake Filson product would return likely good results.
However, looks awfully Filson to me in the images. eBay would certainly rise to checking this out if brought to their attention.

Filson is a very recognizable brand.
Not sure about bags, but I've seen lots of knockoff Filson clothing, especially their hats.

You can tell a real Filson by heft alone.

Manbag or whatever it is, it works. Took it out while shooting a little yesterday. Such a perfect bag for me I'm selling off all bags but two A&A's, which I might sell too.
Remember, I asked if anyone had ever seen a faked Filson. The price I paid made me wonder.

I just buy Rustler jeans at K-mart. I take the logo off and write Filson on the back pocket with a gold marker. I buy real Filson underwear though, I like the feel.

Seriously... ?????

You're a better man than I. Filson underwear surely has to be made as most of their clothing... Heavy Wool!!!
Don't think I could stand a day of hiking up and down mountain trails in woolen jockeys... ooooooH... itchy!

Filson makes high quality but somewhat crude, work/hunting clothes. (I imagine that they are too coarse for many.) Billingham bags are finer, fashioned after English shell/game bags, Filson are modified shell/game bags.
They do have lesser lines now, but their old tarpaulin and wool (loden type cloth) clothes and bags are what are known best. Haven't tried the underwear.

Here is a little something for all the Filson fans. I don't think it's worth trying to fake these, you can tell the difference in quality right away. I've been to their flagship store that is also the factory building. They take the production seriously. Here is full review I did back in fall: asildaphotography.com/filson
