Canada fall get together...or joe goes to toronto!

I'm free late Saturday afternoon, and Saturday evening. I have a day pass for the film festival, and to get my money's worth have to cram a number of movies into that last weekend, as I have family visitors on the first weekend of the film festival (I'm as bad as Frank.)

Ugh.. you know.. all the times Joe had SAID he was coming to Toronto and now he finally is and I won't be anywhere near the city. I'll be unavailable until the 21st :(

Sadly,
Dave

. . .
btw, i'll be staying at banting house on homewood ave...they say you can walk to everything from there...true?

Not the greatest area of town after dark. However, looked up the Banting House web page and it looks quite interesting.

Let us know how you liked it. Very likely Priceline or some service like that would have matched the price in a more conventional hotel.

I recently upgraded to Nikon D300 but I guess I would be drummed out of RFF if I showed up with it so I may bring one of my much neglected Barnacks or my Rolleiflex.

we could always meet up for an afternoon bite to eat and a chat if that works for you.

my only solid goal for toronto is to have some different streets to shoot.

Joe, I just got word of this at a flickr meet tonite. I'll add this thread to my tracked ones and I'm pretty sure the 17th is okay for me. I can't say how much of the day I can set aside but I'll know better as it gets closer.

You'll be staying about 10 minutes from where I live so getting there is easy for me. You can PM me thru RFF if you need to.

cheers Jan

I'm long overdue for a visit to Toronto. But sorry to say that I can't make it that weekend. Have a great time all and safe travels Joe.

i'm not really sure what saturday will look like...

thursday afternoon...i get picked up at the airport, head to my b&b, mabye do a walkabout and then some food, might be 2 fellow rff'ers with me.

friday morning, my buddy from kingston arrives and we spend the day together...shooting and touristing and eating (some of our favourite things)...he is currently looking for a cheap hotel nearby for the fri. night (last minute decision) and then we meet up for b'fast and he heads back home.

sat...tbd

sunday...jays vs. yanks...afternoon game, no other plans

monday morning i head to the airport and home sweet home...

Does anyone have ideas for a venue? I've looked a bit, found only House of Parliament (roughly where Joe is staying), and am unsure what other areas it would be best to look in. I remember the Rhino, if Joe wanted to catch some Parkdale street shots. Other pub names escape me at the moment.

More suggestions needed.

Hair of the Dog over by the Maple Leaf Gardens is about a 10 minute walk from the area Joe is in. It's got good food and close to Dundas Square where street shooting is a possibility
