Georgia Fall RFF Meet?

i'm gonna have to forego the greer meet to save for a family trip to helen the weekend of oct. 8 ...

That probably should of been the fall meet. Sounds fun. I too may have to miss the greer meet. Not sure yet. Wife has been falling down alot lately. Dr's checked her inner ear, BP, & other things & all have come back good. She went Thurs. morning for a CT Scan. Dr. called today & he's sent the results to a nerologist. I guess it will be Monday before we know anything. She has also decided she want's to take a trip to the beach 1st of Oct. Anyways please say a prayer for Carolyn....Thanks!:)

Greg, sorry to hear about Carolyn falling a lot. That is one of our daily fears here as my own bride still cannot walk unassisted as it is just too dangerous. Falling is a serious thing that a lot of people don't think about or relate to because they have no clue. It is a very serious thing and we both hope and pray that she will be able to have this situation diagnosed and treated successfully. Ours appears to be long-term but hopefully her situation will not be.

Thank's Paul, Dave. Dave I'm constantly amazed with all you have been through, that you don't give up & you still enjoy yourself & take your wife along as at the spring meet. I try to get my wife to go places & she feels like she would be too much of a burdon & hindering myself from having a good time. When she said she wanted to go to the beach I was over joyed. I still have the Greer meet in my sights. It would only be a day trip for me since it would only take a few hours to drive down 85. I'll keep you all posted when we get the results & thanks for the prayers & thoughts guys.

Paul(fish), I hope to meet you in the future. If you are ever up this way let me know.
gb, thought and prayers for your wife and you. I hope you can make Greer, but if you can't let me know when you come down this way.

Thanks Michael. I'm going to plan for the greer meet. I know it's gonna be a good event. Any ideas yet on where to meet, times, etc.?

Greg, the car show is open to the public from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Although there usually is a good number of cars, the area they occupy is not too large. It is held in "front yard" of the BMW plant mostly surrounding the Zentrum. I would suggest that we all could meet inside the Zentrum.
As to what time, I'll leave that to you folks that have to travel. I can be over there within fifteen minutes. However, I do like to hit the show before lunch time, and eat some of the German type food that's sold there.

This thread has been quiet for a couple weeks. Is anyone still trying to make this? I'm plugging away bit by bit at getting my touring bike set up for a ride to Greer.

Come on guys...if I can ride a bicycle loaded with camping gear to get there, the rest of you should be able to make it by car.

Hey Michael, what kind of camping options are there in the Greer area. I haven't had much luck finding any State parks down there.

The closest is Croft in Spartanburg county. There is also Paris Mountain that is closer to Greenville. In upper Greenville county, if you have the time, there is Jones Gap. A truly magical place.

Well, that was .... an experience. Another night and morning in the ER.

So, now I am planning on heading up to Greer with a wheelchair in the trunk. My wife had a terrible fall yesterday and is now wheelchair bound with a sprained knee and a sprained ankle for the next 4-6 weeks. Could have been a lot worse.

So, what are YOUR plans for the Greer show?

...barring any last minute (i.e. children issues) I am still planning on the meet. I am about ~1.5 hours out so would be driving up in the morning and returning in the afternoon.

Any thoughts on what gear you might be bringing? I would like to perhaps bring some diversity, so that others may have a chance to try something different than what they normally shoot.

Ha...interesting idea...for me, the Leica M3 w/ 5cm Summarit and the Leica R4 with 50mm Summicron. Can throw in the XA2 and the Ftn if anyone is interested in trying them out!

I'll be there with my RD1. That's the most "exotic" body I have. I do have a few Nikon slr's (FM2n, F100, D700) and a few lenses for them. If you want to try the RD1, and take home some images, it uses SD cards (with a max size of 2gb). The D700 uses CF cards.

Also, if you've never been to downtown Greenville we could go over there in the afternoon. It is rather nice in the park area, with good restaurants nearby for supper.

Thanks for the camping info Michael. I'll try to give it a look today.

As for me, I'll be travelling light. Just my M4-2 with the 40mm Summicron atlcruiser is still kind enough to let me use. I might bring along my Holga just because it's light and the only camera I have that will shoot all this 120 film I have.

I cetainly can't wait to see an RD-1! As for any plans on the ground, as long as I can either take along or safely leave my bike somewhere, I'm up for anything.

Oh yeah...and I'm sorry to hear about everyone and the troubles their significant others are having. Dave, I certainly hope Mrs. Lackey will be able to come along in a couple weeks. Holly and I will be thinking about y'all.
