Fast Speed Adjustment on Leica III

One of my favourites is an old prewar conversion to IIIa. It works consistently with little shutter tension making hardly more than a very quiet 'snick' in operation.

As others have said, it is all down to the condition of the camera you have in your hand and you won't know until you have used it and had a chance to compare it with others.

I agree with Erik.

So, being enormously pedantic and pondering all the above what speed should we expect the blinds to move at in a conversion? Presumably the post war 'syn and non 'syn' versions would run faster and the pre war examples would keep the speed of the original camera (in most cases 1/20?)?

They all run at the same speed because the mechanism is the same. The "syn" versions are to be avoided because the synch mechanism slows down the shutter. And tell me, who is using flash with these old Barnacks?

Black post war non synch II and III are very cool in my opinion.

Erik.

I quote...

'...a light tap with a small watch-makers hammer.'

Not science, skill.

It suggests to me that not all parts are interchangeable, which might cause problems when looking for secondhand bits and pieces...
