Favorite Neck Strap?

After reading many rave reviews on Luigi's straps and cases I had to give it a try. I just received a Luigi/Leicatime leather strap about 2 weeks ago.

I asked for a "custom-order" strap and specified the exact length (non-adjustable), width (12mm), and color. It turned out beautiful, not bulky, is very soft and comfortable on the shoulder, as well as when wrapped around the wrist.

I've been using it on my Leica IIf and find it a good match. On a heavier camera I think my Domke Grippers may be better suited, but for the smaller Barnack cameras, these Luigi's 12mm straps are quite nice.

I hate to say that but I prefer the narrow black basic nikon strap to the leica.
Only problem: you need to buy a camera to get those 🙂 And of course to blacken the Nikon logo..

actually the narrow black strap is my strap of choice and I've found those that come with the cameras are typically twice the width. this one is all black, non-descript and great for streetphotography....www.http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/37064-REG/Nikon_639_AN_4B_Nylon_Neck_Strap.html

well this link seems not to work but it's a Nikon AN-4B. I used to also have a neoprene Nikon strap which I could remove and then clip together the little strap parts still on the camera. I thought they were great and regret that I only have one which now looks extremely nasty. I've seen a Hakuba brand strap that looks to be of similar design and I hope it will be interchangeable with the Nikon strap parts. The neoprene really does make a heavier camera feel much lighter... great for the bigger digis if you shoot those.

I looked at these but decided not to risk the whole weight of my RD-1 to one strap lug.I use a luigi strap and halfcase instead.

the Artisan Artist white stitch strap looks soooooo sexay. i bet anyone would cream just looking at it with a chrome leica M. hmm my leather fetish is giving me all sorts of signals to send in an order....

Artisan and Artist straps are my favorite right now. Simple clean design paired with unbeatable workmanship-a winning combination!

A strap end, no matter how soft, hand-made of leather or not will eventually wear off the chrome and faster yet, the paint.

The best way to stop that cold is the method Leica used in the M6, M7 and M8...attach a piece of plastic to the camera body above the eyelet.

A poor man's way is to stick a thin silicone bump on the camera body just above the strap eyelet. Silicone bumps are available in any hardware store and cheap. They were originally manufactured for silencing closure of kitchen cabinet doors.

If the bumps finally wear, stick on a new one.🙂
 
On my soviet rf's & SLR I use a domke gripper. It's a cool strap & will not slip off the shoulder. On my Bessas I like the factory strap. There is a leather shop down the road thats run by a biker dude & I have been thinking about getting him to make me a strap.
 
I have the UPstrap on all my cameras but one -- and highly recommend it. It's very secure, and the strap will not come off your shoulder until you want it to. It's also quite simple, and not too expensive. The odd camera is a D300, with which I am experimenting with the Y strap. It's an odd strap that works very well, but I find that in some way that I'm unable to specify exactly, it annoys me. On the other hand, the function is so good, that it's hard to turn away. It's also easy to wrap around your hand if you want to take the camera off your body, and shoot one-handed. I'm going to do some photography at the Republican National Convention for a local news outlet, and I'll have the Y strap on the D300 and the UPstrap on a D3. We'll see.

IMHO, the Leica strap is an embarrassment to the company. Nikon straps are a bit unwieldy for me, and I also don't like being a walking billboard.

I own two Luigi straps (less costly deluxe) the ones with no neckpad. They feel really great, and don't strain the wrist when I wrap them around my wrist. The leather feels great and I love the look. Excellent service from Luigi!

None, I have never met a neck strap or wrist strap that I have liked. They all seem to get in the way.

And I almost never use a camera bag either. I just carry the camera in my hand with a pocket full of film.
 
I had to look at mine. It says "Lumix" on it. Don't remember where I got it. Thing is always slipping off my shoulder, too. So I went to Artist and Artisan website, because a lot of people are mentioning them in this thread. Those things are not cheap! While I was there, I saw this picture of this bag packed up and I laughed out loud. I mean, there is 1 roll of film in there! Looks like room for 1 more, though. Hilarious.
