Where in Spain are you? I know there are a bunch of folks in Spain on the Leica Users Group.
Regarding the biggest rangefinder, reading that Christian's camera is a 13x18cm that still beats my Korona VI even though that camera is seriously almost 3 feet long. I have an extra Kalart rangefinder that wouldn't be hard at all to calibrate to the 420mm Apo-Ronar. The problem is that I'd have to at least share the spoils with Sam since he generously made all that happen!
I have a few pairs of broken binoculars around... I'd like to take a BK4 prism and this beamsplitter I have from an old yashica and make a huge rangefinder out of black ABS. I'm thinking the same size as they used to use on old WWII tanks. 12ft baselength. Coupling the monster to a camera would be a different matter altogether but not difficult. Projecting framelines would be another matter entirely...
I wonder if that Navy periscope eyepiece is still up on ebay...

Phil,
I expect to see the Korona with a banquet camera back and the Kalart. And a grip of course, to make it handhold-able.

The Amazon HQ2 deal is off for Long Island City Queens.
Amazon cites that they require positive collaboration with local politicians and will look elsewhere.
This news is good for me.

I just heard about it on the news, they're saying it's a Dead Deal!.

Bob,
Nothing in that private deal between DeBlasio, Cuomo and Bezos for most people. Pretty much a secrete deal behind closed doors.
If you ask people in the South Bronx, they feel like they got short changed and were given broken promises when the new Yankee Stadium was built.
Some old women told us they destroyed and tore down some historic buildings that should have been saved. Many of the parks that were promised and public spaces never happened. 25K times $150K=$3,750,000,000.
Also they conflated saying the 25K jobs created would have an average salary of $150K. How many CEO's is Amazon going to hire? 25K times $150K is 3.75 billion dollars which is a re-Dick-U-lus number.
Also Whole Foods lowered prices initially, but that too was a head fake.

I think I would have to rig up a harness like the steadicam rigs used for shooting IMAX film. If I went that far, it might be better to operate the tiny focus wheel with a stepper motor that would be controlled by a trigger + toggle to differentiate back and forth. Thinking about all this weight is making me tired.Phil,

Nothing but joy here that Amazon will not be a neighbor. It would have cost me tens of thousands in increased (commercial) rent, and in the end what would it have really given to the city.
When I heard the news today, I thought that Suffolk county would have been really the idea location. Jeff could have as easily helicoptered to the airports from Suffolk as Long Island City.
Lots of folks looking for some direction out there after years of losing defense jobs...

Joe,
I was laid off twice at the end of the Cold War. Grumman employed 30K people and was the largest employer on Long Island.
I'm not asking for 3 billion dollars, but understand that as an artist and gentrifier I helped redevelop and enrich this city over the course of decades.
Along the way I made the landlords, the developers, the banks, and the real estate agents lots of money and got nothing in return.
DeBlasio and Cuomo setting up a private deal in secrete without any public input is just plain dishonest. Pretty much I feel the insult. Who really benefits from this deal?
Shame on DeBlasio and Cuomo.

What more shocking is its people from their own party that went against it.

If you know Long Island City's history, real estate agents have said it is "an up and coming neighborhood" for decades.
On the news one real estate agent mentioned that the Amazon deal would have made LIC a 24/7 area.
To me, someone who helped gentrify Greenpoint, Williamsburg, and Long Island City neither Greenpoint nor Williamsburg are 24/7 communities like in Madhattan.
While polls show that most favor the deal, the local communities know better. In decades past they were neglected areas where AIDs and drug epidemics took their toll.
The "Cat Woman" Susan from the Southside of Williamsburg told me how there use to be streetwalkers everywhere. My next door neighbor Jimmy in LIC told me Street Walkers patroled right in front of our houses. When Guilani was Mayor and cleaned up Times Square I know where the sex trade got even more concentrated.
The locals know and recognize a "bait and switch" and who really will be the losers here. They know what being abandoned by government because it has happened before.
DeBlasio and Cuomo did something dishonest here by keeping things private and not including the local communities that would be effected.

I picked up my first Leica in years, a R4S for a price of, wait for it $24.95! Anybody have a lens they
could bring to the next meet so I could try it out. The camera does work LED's and all so this looks
promising.

I am convinced that the Konica Autoreflex T series (T, T2, T3) are some of the finest cameras ever made, equal in fit, finish and user friendliness to any pre-Minolta Leica SLR.

I'm not arguing with you at all, Bob. Of course, there is always that weird thing of electronic reliability that plagued some of the early Minolta era R cameras. That said, they are really nice with extraordinary finders and super smooth shutters. I would love an R6 and I can actually afford one, I just can't afford any R lenses!
As for Konica, people are basically giving Konica stuff away, especially at thrift stores. Every time I mount a lens on my T3, I have this slightly sinking feeling that Nikon is just too rough around the edges. And the finder... The T3 finder with a 50mm f/1.7 lens is brighter than a B screen in my F2 with my 50mm f/1.2 on. I don't even know.
It's all gear lust. Most companies made some outstanding cameras, and all of them made a few turds.

Gear lust I know what you mean, years ago when the Nikon F3 first came out
I wanted it so bad. When I finally got one I said okay it's good but I was into
other stuff and it wasn't the same. I know Konica made a few great camera's
hey it's what we like and enjoy about camera's.

Their (the person)
There (like someone going there to a place, meaning there a place someone's going to)
They're (group going to a place)
or could be more.
