At the moment, I would be gunning for that Minolta 35 with lens, if still available. I hope to make a working camera out of 2 damaged ones.
Concept of No Money For Gear is very dear to me. I don’t remember if I spent actual cash on any equipment over the last 2-3 years. Trades mostly. Also, I have donated over 200 SLRs and over 200 various lenses over the last 3 months. I am not counting boxes and boxes of misc photo equipment. I had to make room. All of the donated stuff was residual accumulation from gear trading.
I definitely have entries for some categories. Still thinking about largest functioning RF.![]()
Sam,
Someone should call the SEC on you for trading commodities.
The shutter had one curtain let go, but the shutter still could be fired. Now the camera is jammed as a result of the second curtain letting go. Overall it is clean I would say and is a nice camera. As I remember the shutter speeds sounded right, even the slow speeds.
The 50/2.8 has clean glass, a stiff focus, and a dented filter ring.
I can put this camera on reserve for you if you want. I brought it to the past two Meet-Ups as a tease.
Look through the thread. I give more detail about the spy camera in one of the posts. I think it would be difficult to secure a kit that is complete like this one.
I also know that you have in your arsonel some camera that might be a contender against "Snarky Joe."

Cal,
If you don’t mind reserving it, I would reallyappreciate it.
I will look through the thread to refresh my head.
I have something for screwmount categories. I need to look back and see what other categories are there.

I am the one who probably wins this category. I just can't sail the rangefinder/s up to NYC.

Phil,
That New Jersey class battleship you have in in your back pocket is mighty awesome.
I remember when in Lebanon when someone broke a cease fire, Ronald Reagan gave the order to start launching shells from the big guns. It did not take long for the a request for the cease fire to resume.
Just barely fits through the Panama Canal.

The Iowas were built specifically to fit through the Panama canal with a foot to spare. If I am counting right, we have 14 coincident Optical rangefinders on the ship. Two of them have a greater than 40 foot base length. The rest of them are closer to 10 feet wide. On Trent number two and current number three, the minimum firing solution distance for the rangefinder is 5000 yards. 5000 yards from a market 716 in gun is effectively the same as getting shot from a 44 magnum at about 6 feet. It's almost point-blank.

Looks like "Maggie" got another big gig with another tech company that is a household name. She has to fly again to L.A. next week.
WOW. Seattle for retirement could be in the picture. Less flying time. Her agent Max also is based in L.A. Hmmm...
Alex sent me the wrong spyder. He shipped me the right one, and I did the return shipping on the wrong one. Smut is Alex is so big that people are afraid of him.
Chains should arrive today.
Saturday I went to the Leica Store in SoHo to get the most recent firmware update. The new firmware deals with a focus shift offset for more accuracy, and some ap interface I'll never use.
Inadvertantly I left a SD card, but Craig called and said he would mail me the card. I should be getting that today according to the shipping notice. Pretty much VIP treatment. "I love it."
Maggie offered to buy me a second GoPro Hero 7 Black. I mentioned that I want to use two GoPro's: one as a bike mount for a bike view; and a second for a helmet mount for the rider FOV.
So just in case Leica is lurking on this thread, "When is Leica going to make me a Monochrom version of the SL?" Also I'm waiting for a SL2.

Phil,
When an Iowa class launches a salvo it is said that they land in a grid that basically levels a square mile. Is this true? I'm talking 9 big guns in my example.
I know an update was to remove one turret to have a jump jet capability.

Phil,
The category is for a camera, not a ship! If however you could demonstrate that you can shoot cans of film from those guns, we might make an exception. Or perhaps you can convert the barrel into a telephoto pinhole camera?

Christian,
I go way off topic all the time. Also this is camera related enough for me. LOL.
For instance it could be said that I make my cameras like weapons. For example my Wetzlar M6 with Rapidgrip and Rapidwinder.
Not a threat to you because Phil's Iowa class WWII battleship will remain in Philly/Trenton.
You should give that 5x7 Linhof a Battleship name.

An appropriate prize for the largest rangefinder could be the miniture spy camera kit.

I am going to have to take some photos of the big RF in turret 2. I could probably get a decent image from one of the smaller main fire control RFs. The problem with imaging the view in a 46ft ft long coincident rangefinder is that the length of each side causes a lot of falloff. It's essentially a 23ft long tube so you have the same problem as using a lot of bellows for a macro photo. No one has crawled in there and cleaned the thing since G.H.W. Bush was president also. Interesting that the RF is more than twice the diameter of the gun it directs.

Now that the Yamato and Musashi are no longer afloat, the Iowas have the largest rangefinders.
I don't want to cheat though. I would have to prove one is working by the February meeting.
Next time you all decide to make a Philly trip, walk across the Ben Franklin bridge and visit BB-62. I'll give you a guided tour. I will have to make sure I have the day available since my schedule is pretty busy until the summer of 2020, with grad school and all.

Sam,
I remember being humbled and publically humiliated by Christian's 4x5 Linhof at a Meet-Up.
I was bragging about my old Fuji's that have interchangable lenses, AKA "Texas Leicas."
Today Christian has a rare 5x7 Linhof, and it is a beauty.
Let's not forget the beat up old camera contest. Only honest wear that pretty much would be considered a "Patina." No relicking allowed. I have Christian's old 1952 4x5 Tech IV that has this wonderful patina on its real OEM leather covering. The shutter needs servicing, but the camera works.
I'll ship Phil his prize after the Beauty Contest. This spy cam is a very cool conversation piece because it is a time capsule kit.
