Fed2 rangefinder arm slack..help?

Hi guys - the FED2 (older version with teardrop-shaped RF cam) I just got has a slack RF arm. The arm just doesn´t go all the way out towards the lens on its own, the last few mm are missing, probably due to fatigue in the spring that holds the arm against the lens. This means it´s hopeless to adjust this beast´s RF for close-range (or at all, actually).

Repair ideas?

Could be grime you need

to lift the top cover or
try some fine lube on end of dentist pick into the shaft bush, PTFE liquid from gun supply shop or Tandy/radio shack is safest.

The second is to be done first then if it fails, screwdrivers
