Feel of M8's shutter release?

How does it compare to the M7, which, before the release point, comes to what i might call a "hard stop" just before the actual release point. This hard stop is something I can't get used to on an M7. It interrupts the flow of shooting for me (I'm used to an M2, an M3, an M6, and MP). So before taking the M8 plunge, am I going to find its shutter release point as distracting as the M7's is, for me?

Probably. Mine also feels squeaky. Note it doesn't actually squeak. It just feels like it could use grease or something.

My M8 has one of the least pleasant shutter release actions of any camera I own ... it feels notchy and hard to read!

They have a "hard stop" that can be used to lock the exposure, however, I find exposure locking iffy at best. The shutter is not what I would call smooth and would agree with Keith.

i agree with all above.

whereas the M2 is smooth as silk, the M8 is herky-jerky if you're sensitive to that type of thing (which i am as well). i've heard the upgraded shutter is quite a bit nicer but i have not been able to compare this yet.

Only one way to tell, try it out.... I prefer my M6's release to the M8's, but that does not make the use of the M8 any less enjoyable.

the feeling is not so nice with the m8, sqeaky describes it very well. Though the m8 is the only camera i ever had, where my clients comment on the great sound it makes. myself I prefer the m6 shutter experience.

My later m8 is not squeaky, my first, older one was. There are two notches of less and more resistance: mp/m3 is much better. However, you'll get used to it after a thousand pics.

My M8 (a second-generation sample) shutter release was never squeaky or notchy. It felt very similar to the M6 I had at the time. Now I've got the shutter upgraded, and it feels about the same. There's a slight difference to my M4 of course, as I would expect, because the M4 doesn't have a built-in light meter that needs to be switched on, or have a detent for exposure lock. But there's nothing to my M8 that hinders shooting.
