Are there any film compacts with a hotshoe? 35mm would be my preference, but 28 is OK. I'd like to be able to use an external VF. Thanks.

John

Your title says P&S, but the query says "compact".

As for P&S with hot shoes, some of the plastic fantastic models have them, but most are 50mm. When it comes to compacts, Yashica has the CC, and CCN that are both 35mm.

Thank you all. Appreciate your responses. I actually mean compact P$S, ideally something like a film version of my GR.

I'm not aware of any GR(1)-sized P&S that have a hot shoe. That's how it was back then.

If zone focus cameras qualify as P&S then you have many options from the '80's, for example the Ricoh FF-1. But again, they come with decent viewfinders...

Hi -- the CC and CCN does not have a hot shoe. It has a PC connection.

As cheaply as they can be gotten at thrift shops anymore, there's a whole crop of Nineties auto-focus SLR's with hot shoes that are point-and-shoot. Both of my EOS cameras have hot shoes. Yeah, that's probably not an area of inquiry you wanted to go down....

BTW, for an external VF, you do not need a hot shoe. A "cold" shoe, the original style accessory shoe that lacks an electrical contact, would work as well.

if you're wanting the shoe to add an OVF, might I suggest the Olympus XA series - no shoe, but they have a nice large VF. the XA (with RF), XA2 and XA3 (scale focus) are all 35mm and the XA4 (scale focus down to 1 foot) is 28mm. and all of their vf's are centered over the lens.
