Film processing in London question

Hi fellow Londoners (or Brits),
I was wondering where do you get your E6 reversal film and B&W developed in the UK, Jessops are expensive and ssssllllloooowwwwww and the pro labs in soho, while being very fast and normally okish in terms of quality are very expensive - £8-£10 per roll which when including the cost of film does add up very quickly...
SO, where would you recommend I process my B&W and E6 where quality rules and where I wouldn't break the bank?

Peak Imaging or Lab35 - both are quick and reasonably priced.

Edited to add: for E6 that is. I do my own B&W and have done for 30 years.

Fantastic price of £1.50 a roll (dev only) but due to the post strike I'm still waiting 4 weeks on for my first roll of Velvia to get back to me.

£1.50 + VAT is very cheap but waiting 4 weeks. Jeez. We haven't been affected by the strikes here, so far as I've noticed.

Anyway I use The Darkroom UK, http://www.the-darkroom.co.uk/frames/

£5.95 including free post to them and return postage for mounted 35mm E6.

Never been disappointed with their E6 work.

I can also recommend Peak but they do charge postage.

I use Genesis in Fulham. I don't actually know the price per roll, I usually give them a mixed bunch of eight 35mm and 120 rolls and they charge me about £50-ish. They turn e6 round in two hours, but don't do any b&w other than c41 (which is pricey).

I recieved my roll of Velvia back this week from Genie. They are in wimbledon which I think is one of the most badly effected areas in the post strike. The shots of post being sorted on the street which appeared in the national press were taken in SW London I think.
£1.50 per roll for e6 or C41 is there mail order only price which with the post and VAT makes it £4.53 for one roll. Obviously the more rolls you send the cheaper the price per roll.

For B&W I use a local guy who has a minilab and printing business he runs from home

He charges £5 for dev and Contact print + £2 post or you can collect. More than 2 rolls are £4.

He can also create wet silver prints from Digital files and other specialist services.


For 'instant' B&W results I shoot xp2 (C41) and process only at my local high street minilab which £2 for a 1hr service

Obviously you will need to scan your images as well if you use photoshop in your workflow.

I have a cheap ( under £200) Minolta Film scanner I bought secondhand.

£1.50 seems a bit of a crazy price. Brainwood, if you've had a chance to look, how are the results compared to other companies you have used?

I've only used Peak Imaging and am very happy with their service and can't see room for improvement for the actual results, but I'm interested in this £1.50 processing by Genie as it would allow me to afford to shoot more E6.
