Leave all money and credit cards in the safe in the hotel. ;-)

Actually, you may need some Nitroquik tabs, Paris prices on equipment are not for the faint of heart.

I stopped at one place with a fairly rare? Leica lens, well the one in the window was a vintage 35mm M mount at $800, and I offered to put its twin on consignment, it had a bit of dust and they turned me down, saying they wanted only perfect items.

I took it home, had it serviced, and sold it here.

Still, there is some good window shopping. ;-)

Going on a Sunday is equally safe, but a Perrier 300ml will be about $10 at a cafe, on a side street, it did have a red dot.

Hmmm, when I'm in France I usually stock up with "Fujifilm Z200" which comes in two cassettes of 36 exposures for 4,49 Euros at Lidl's shops.

Has anyone else used it? I guess it's a "supermarket" film like Kodak's "VR200Plus" which was dirt cheap in the UK at Aldi's shops.

Having used both I see nothing wrong with them and like the prices, which match my pension.

I really do think that s the place to go to get films for a good price...

Forget about Fnac shops, where you will find no choice and prices will easily reach the double of you will find at Photostock.

The shop mentionned in Odeon does not exist anymore.

I agree : Photostock for the large choice of rolls, the prices, and the boss.
Boulevard Beaumarchais for the lens and the hardware.
You must see the shop avenue des Gobelins : amazing !

Forget the FNAC... Odéon Photo is closed...

I concur: Odeon PhotoVideo on boulevard Saint germain has been closed for quite a while now (at least two years). forget about FNAC: they carry somme film, but not a good choice. Actually, it all depends on where you stay while in Paris: you won't cross the whole city just to get film...If you are close to the Eiffel Tower, try Photo Suffren, they are Leica, Voigtlander and Nikon specialists and excellent professionals (http://www.photosuffren.com/); If you are closer to Saint Germain des Prés, there is an excellent photolab which of course has turned digital, but carries a wide variety of film, colour and b&w): Laboland, on boulevard Saint Germain (nr 227, close to the ministry of defence, subway Solférino, no web site, it's too small). But if you have plenty of time and money to spend, you must go to boulevard Beaumarchais, as mentioned, you will never come back. good luck
