My 3.5cm f/1.8 Nikkor has filter ring damage that hadn't been a big problem before, I have used filters and a hood with it and was able remove them.. Not this time! I must have screwed in the hood a little too tightly, and now it won't budge.. Any way to get it out??

Hi, Try using one of those rubber jar lid removal clamps you can buy failing that try two small stilson pliers with their jaws covered with something soft that will not damage the metal of the lens.

Is the hood stuck on the 43mm thread or the 48mm thread?

If its stuck on the 48mm thread .... brute force.

If its stuck on the 43mm thread ... again brute force. But be warned that the front optical group will screw out with it (don't ask me how I know). Don't worry! Just screw it back in once you have the hood detached :)

I use a rubber mousepad, cut into strips. One to hold the lens, the other for the hood/filter.

Haha yes, that's what happened when I tried the first time.. I'll have to try again with what Brian and/or robbiechad suggested.. I just can't seem to grip it tight enough.

Ahh.. I'll give it a try!

Thanks guys!
