filter\shade for summar

Hi gang!

I recently got a summar via a trade on this forum and love it!
I want to get a hood and a uv\skylight filter to use with it, I dont need anything original or historicly accurate, just usefull (the filter should be modern-ish and not lower performance).

Would like your input.

I got a UV filter here (they also do a skylight one if you prefer) and a screw-in hood from the same place here. Service was quick and efficient.

I found the hood especially to be a very cheap solution to reducing flare from a scratched front element.

Note that the adjustable FIKUS hood will work fine on the Summar at the shortest setting. If you also have Elmar 50/3.5, Elmar 90/4, or Hektor 135/4.5 it becomes a good buy. You can get a scruffy one for a reasonable price.

I have a Hoya UV HMC filter on mine; nothing seemed more appropriate than a multi-coated filter marketed towards digital cameras. 🙂

One other option you might want to consider is getting a 36mm series VI slip-on adapter and a series VI hood. You might even get lucky and find a 34mm screw-on adapter. Another advantage to this is you can use series VI filters. All are commonly available on eBay cheap..
