I've been looking for a filter for my CV 35/2.5 "Classic" as everybody knows it has 39mm thread, I've seen a lot of options such as E39, A39, slip on, and some filters which fit specific lenses (e.g. summitar). Can anyone help me to know which of these filters would fit this lens? it would be nice to have a filter that sets between the lens and the lens hood.

Thanks

German others will correct me if I'm wrong here, but what you need is a regular 39mm filter with a 0.75 thread pitch. I bought a B+W 43mm labeled 43E for my CV 35/2.5 Pancake 1 and it does not fit the lens :bang: because it has a 0.5 thread pitch and the lens has a 0.75 pitch.

B+W use letters to designate thread, most other brands (Hoya for example) have the thread pitch on the box.

E39 - that's what the box of my B&W filter for my 35/2.5 says...

Peter, "standard" pitch depends on the diameter. For example, 0.5 is standard for 39mm, 0.75 is standard for 46mm.

The manual for the 35/2.5 Classic just says '39mm' (and the diameter sign).
The E39 fits perfectly, goes on & comes off easily (and works just as well with the 25/4 Snapshot Skopar!)
BTW, the 'E' in the designation stands for German 'Einschraubfilter', which means 'screw-in filter', 'A' would be 'Aufsteckfilter'/'slip-on filter'.

as they say you learn something new every day. after all the articles i've read and all the photo web sites i've been on; this is the first i've ever heard of thread pitch. thanks for keeping me informed.
