Same question as another post only for the Jupiter 12. Just wondering what size of filters will work on a J12. In fact, any hints or experience with this lens will be much appreciated.
Thanks

My black J-12 is my second most used lens. I use my collapsable I-50 more because on my Zorki it makes for a very pocketable package. if you check my gallery you will see a few examples of the lens capabilities.
Mine takes 40.5mm filters.

The size question has been answered already but you also asked for some "hints" so here's my best one for you:
With out a filter the J-12 does pretty well shading itself. With a filter, I highly recommend a lens hood! I bought a "40.5mm Wide Angle" hood from "Heavystar" on ebay. About $15 US or so and just about the best 15 bucks I've spent on photography!
I've got three of his lens hoods and think they are very well made.

hey, they're only Zorkis
I like the J12 and keep one on a Zorki 1 most of the time. The funky aperture adjustment is not hard to get used to and is even easier to manipulate with a filter attached. Take extra care with the large rear end element; easy to get bumped. Good lens; you'll like it. Get out there and shoot the heck out of it!
two or three shots here with J12
P.S. ~ Like Rob, I use a lens hood w/filter as well.

Do you know the difference? Just curious...... the focus was off slightly (and should be ... the Jupiter-12 is for Zorki bodies and Leica and Zorki bodies are not of the same thickness).

Thanks G'man. So the focus problem is...?

That's what I was looking for. I'd read that here before not long ago, (and probably from your post) but couldn't get the right criteria in the search box to come up with the thread. Thanks again greyhoundman. The tolerance is +/- .02mm

Finally searched "shims" and found the thread I was looking for.

How do you keep the micrometer square? I have tried this several times and I get a different reading every time. I even borrowed a nice digital one from one of the labs where I work and no soap. Any trick to it or am I hopelessly fumble fingered. :bang:

You can also try getting a 40.5->49mm filter step up ring for your Jupiter-12 , that makes manipulating the apature dial much easier.
