Hello,

Could somebody please offer me some advice re what filter(s) to get to protect a Summicron 50 lens.

Are there combo sets of filters that can be purchsed... UV, polarizer...

Thank you

Dear John,

No. At least, not that I have seen. The price would frighten off too many people.

Remember too that polarizers for rangefinders need eiither a swing-away mount or a polarizing viewfinder in order to be useful, and therefore tend to be expensive.

What sort of filters do you want (for colour or monochrome)? I use mostly B+W, which are expensive but excellent.

Cheers,

Roger

I also suggest the b+w filters. They really are bloody expensive compared to the Hoya ones, but the b+w MRC UV filters really are where you want to be if you have spent so much money to be able to use a summicron.

My preferred filter for my Summicron 50 DR, my Summicron 35/2 (8 elements) and my Summaron 35/2.8 are B+W: red 091, green 061, yellow 022, orange 024, KR3 (81C) and KB3 (85C).
Ciao.
Vincenzo
