A great performing lens for sure! Here's a few shots I took with the one I owned briefly. I ended up letting this lens go and hanging onto the lighter and more compact Nikkor-P 8.5cm f2 lens, even though the Nikkor-P 10.5cm f2.5 has the performance edge wide open.

Thats nice, but do you have a picture or two taken WITH it?![]()
Unfortunately, the pictures I have are of people, and they certainly do not want their faces to be on the Internet. It is sharp for sure

Too bad! Well, maybe you could shoot some buildings or something with it sometime and post? Just an idea. I enjoy mine too, just not much time to use it lately. Have to remind myself to find time to shoot.

This lens is widely held to be one of the finest in the focal length range. I've only used the SLR version, and that in the early 1970s.

I got one for my Nikon D40. Really nice lens. Mine is the second rather that the first Sonar design one. A bit long for small sensor, but I will get a full frame Nikon someday.

Here you go, shot at ISO 640, f2.5. Coded as 90mm AA.

Agree - great photo Hacker!!
I have been looking for a 85 mm for some to but instead ended up with the 10,5 some time ago and I do not at all agree with it being a "monster" - I actually find it very compartable to carry and use my Nikon RF´s with this lens!

The 8.5cm is definitely smaller, but not sharper. With the hood, the 10.5cm looks huge. It is definitely comfortable to use.

I once did a lens comparion of tele lenses, and people mailed me their lenses. I had the 85/2 and the 105/2.5 Nikkor lenses and I loved both. In the end, I bought the 85/2. Then I bought later on a 105/2.5. In the end, I sold the 85/2 and I kept the 105 because I had no other 105 but I have several 85mm lenses.

The 8.5cm is also a great Sonnar. First shot at ISO 640, subsequent one at ISO 160.

Yes, the 85/2 is a Sonnar, but for some reason I prefer the 105mm with its biting sharpness.
