Finally....it took me 7 tries to update so frustrating. Does the 18 requires new FW update as well?

Snap (wide open) before the update the lens was a bit noisy when focusing, now it seems snappy and no more whining. Will take some more pics tomorrow.

If you go to the support page for each lens it will have the latest versions. Just use the same procedure. Now that you've done it you'll have no problems. Make sure u format ur card before placing any updates on it.

This is perfect example of how Fuji's customer support on line presence is at least a decade behind.
I give Fuji a great deal of credit for aggressively updating and improving their products by s steadily improving the X system with firmware updates. Their marketing web presence is also modern. I hope somehow this thread is communicated to whoever controls the budget for customer support. The current web site reflects very poorly on Fuji.

The name has too match exactly w/ the expected one or else it is not recognized. ...
On a Mac, during the download process, if it detects a file w/ the same name in the folder u have designated as the download location, it will automatically rename the file append a number to the file name body.. Something like xfup0002(1).dat for example. U need to rename that file back to xpup0002.dat.
Set Safari preferences to not automatically expand the downloaded files. Then you can move them somewhere more appropriate before expanding them and the file names will not be modified.
