First C-41 self developing

Today I developed a C-41 film, Agfa 100ASA, for the first time. I used the Tetenal Colortec kit and my Jobo 2400 daylight tank. The setup I use is rather simple: a tub with hot water to bring the chemicals to the (nearly) right temperature and a Jobo thermometer. After filling in the developer I laid the tank in the tub and rotated it manually for the developing time. The film came out well, I think. After 29 years of taking photos and using color labs I think there is a new way to go.

Sorry petronius for bringing this one back from the dead and thanks for sharing this information. Could you please comment on your dev times and blix times?

Did you keep them the same for all rolls you developed?

I know tetenal advise to increase dev times etc at 38 degrees. I myself always work at 30 degrees and I am on my 5th rol with this Tetenal C41 kit. The manual does not state increased dev times at 30 degrees.

Thanks again.

andy - welcome. I have used the Tetenal C41 kit at both 30 and 38 and every manual I've ever had has had increased developing and blixing times for the number of rolls put through. It's here again on this Tetenal C41 kit guide on pg5.

Tetenal

I much prefer the results at 38C btw!

No need to be sorry, that´s what forum posts are for!

I remember that I used the recommended protocol first, but being me I started quickly to simplify and modify the process. The stages are written down in my old blog. Feel free to ask more questions!

Thanks for sharing this information. Sorry petronius for bringing this one back from the dead, but could you please comment on your dev times? I have used the tetenal c41 kit on 5 rols now. I develop at 30 degrees. The manual only states adjusted dev/blix times for 38 degrees.

Did you increase dev/blix times? What would you recon should the dev/blix times be for 30 degrees for rol 4 and further?

Thanks again!
