From my first roll with the FED 3(b) rangefinder (which appears to have a shutter problem at it's highest speed, 1/500th because it has strong vignetting on the left of some shots.) Fomapan 400 in Diafine.
Thanks! Actually I have another shot of the daughter of a friend of mine from this roll which I won't post on a public site, but there the vignetting also added a lot to the shot 🙂
Some accidents are good accidents!
Looks like it's not quite capping but not far off. After a clean and lube normally comes "adjust" - there's a sticky in the FSU section on how to do this. You have too much tension on the second curtain or not enough on the first (assuming it IS running freely, which may not be the case).
It does actually work out on that first shot though...and another "welcome to RFF" here too.
Yes that is typical of several of my Fed's and Zuki's. Seems to come with the shutter design whether you want it or not. I currently have three that are unusable because of it.

You need to blame Mr Barnack for it, it's his design that the FEDs and Zorkis are closely based on. Leica themselves had to do a bit of trickery to get the 1/1000th to work properly! The big problem is that the shutter has two, independent curtains and has to be persuaded for both to run in-sync, which is inherently not easily done.
