first pics from lausanne with my M7

Enjoy your M7, it is a great camera ! Overrated or not doesn't matter, you like it and a camera that is liked will be used more. :)

As mfogiel mentioned, try some XP2 at 200ISO if you have the film scanned at a lab. At some point you should try developing films yourself, especially in BW.

actually i was developing my films before moving switzerland. here, in lausanne, i searched for a darkroom to rent but up to now, i found nothing :(
i really miss the smell of fixer :) btw, for sure i will try XP2 and try to get closer to people while taking pics which is the vital point of street photography i guess.

you may find that approaching people head-on is not as unwelcome or uncomfortable as it might be if you were using a more imposing SLR kit. it is a cliche, but i feel there is some truth in the idea that street subjects are less threatened by photographers using rangefinders.

enjoy that M7. it is particularly fine for in-the-moment shooting.

You might ask around at EPFL if they have any facilities you could use. ETH here in Zurich has a lab and scan station that you can rent. It's equipped with a Nikon 9000 and only costs CHF 8.- a day to use.

btw, TMax is known for being quite contrasty. Try Ilford Delta or HP5.

wow apparently, going to Zurich and developing my films is cheaper than having them developed here :p

well, my favorite combination is Tri-x 400 and D 76 which i hope to meet again soon :)

Tebrikler. When you go back to Istanbul be sure to take some more pictures. That's the place to put your M7 through its paces. Personally I think a cheapo scanner is better than having your lab do them. More control over the final product.

I have the M2 but if I ever got a second M I'd spring for the 7.

Gule gule kullan. :)
