Seems to handle hard lighting situations well; certainly better than the uncoated Summitar would have.

Like Leica, Canon publishes MTF charts for it lenses. The charts for the 50mm f/1.4 and the 50mm f/1.8 are very similar (and good). I'd be happy with either lens.jlw said:Sean's lens test seemed to suggest that the f/1.4 is a little sharper, but they're both good.
