First roll from my Bessa R!

Well, technically it's the second, but that one got ruined because I jammed the film advance and tore the film when I tried to rewind. :bang:

Anyway, I'm very happy with it so far, and I think I've really got the hang of the whole Rangefinder focusing thing (almost as fast as I am with an SLR).

This is Arista.Edu Ultra 400, and I believe I overdeveloped it slightly (too much grain/contrast), and there is some sort of weird thing where on most of the pictures, the bottom third is slightly darker than the rest (what the heck is up with that?). Btut other than that I'm pretty happy with the results.
I love the soft focus and bokeh from my Jupiter-8, and I notice some interesting light bleeding going on when I overexpose...

My personal favorite from the roll; A shot of my friend and his ex in the local Ice cream shop.

Inside the local Pizza Parlor-

Anti-War booth at 'Frist Friday,' which is a monthly get together downtown (I think the overexposure kills what would otherwise be a great pic)-

Two of my Friends watching dancers at First Friday-

My Mother, while we were eating dinner outside-

Crowd watching the breakdancers (see what I mean about the darker third? That's not a shadows and it appears in many of the pictures)-

Interesting pics, thanks for posting.

Some do show a darker third, the crowd watching break dancers is one.
This shows perhaps a difference of around one stop. As it is a horizontal band, this could indicate a shutter problem.
If not on all pics it's unlikely to be a processing thing.
Better be thinking of returning it??

That's what I am afraid of it being. If It persists in the next roll, I'm going to email Stephen about it.

As Fidget says, possibly a shutter problem. Bessas have vertical travel shutters, do they not?

They do, if it's getting stuck slightly it's at the bottom, probably on it's way back up.

I'll know soon enough, once I develop this second roll.

Well, I just got done, and it's there, plain as day on many, many shots. I just emailed aking about repair/replacement.

EDIT: Ouch, 3-4 week turnaround, that means I won't have my camera for my first week or two of college.

Thank you for sharing, Morca, sad to know about those shutter problems, but Stephen is a good person, you shouldn't have problem to have your Bessa repaired

As for the rewind problem, it only occurs if you try to wind on past the final frame in the roll. The film advance lever will stick half way through it's swing. What you do then is press in the rewind button, then advance the lever completely, and somehow that releases it and you can rewind easily.

The sticky shutter is nothing I've ever encountered. I've run somethng like fifty rolls through my camera with nary a problem.

Yeah, I know about the rewind thing, and am more careful now.

I've been talking to Stephen, but he doesn't seem to think it's a shutter problem. He seems to think it's a problem with the Russian Lenses... Two days ago I emailed him a test shot showing it on a blank wall at f2.0 1/60th, and haven't heard back yet.

I'm actually hoping that it is an error on my part or something.
