Love the tone of Agfa APX 100 souped in Rodinal!

It was 1:65 dilution (similar to HC-110 dilution H), 21 C, 17 min, 30 second initial agitation, then 2 inversions per 2 min. I used 7.5ml concentration for 2 rolls of 135 36exp.

I found a similar formula online (probably APUG). It is for 20 C. But I guessed that there would not be much difference for 21 C.

Did you do stand or normal development? Nice results, very classic tones IMHO.

tones are great indeed but i think you could achieve less grain (if you want that) by reducing the temperature to about 19 degrees and adjust times accordingly. rodinal works best on the colder side of 20° - for me at least...

Bit too grainy for my taste but a good start none the less!

Recently On RFF I read about a roll of film being fridge-developed in Rodinal since it was too hot a day. And it worked out fine, with very little grain.

My kitchen often is 16ºC in winter and I don't even make an effort to heat kitchen or water up to 20ºC, Rodinal likes being 'stood up' 1:100 for an hour at 16ºC...

Out of curiosity, how did you type "º" in "ºC"? 😀

You have nice scans. Now add a medium contrast curve and they will lose the flat dead feeling. Adjust layer opacity. You lack mid tone contrast.

You might also use some levels for brighter highlights, blacks are fine.

That's funny on my Mac i have option shift 8 which gives me °C your method gives me ºC strange eh!
What happens when you press shift cmd G ? for me it shows a little trick...

I think it's a good start, but you should be able to obtain:
1- smaller grain
2- better tonality
I typically expose APX 100 @ EI64, and develop 1+45 at 20C for 10 mins, with some initial agitation, and then at 1,4 and 7 minute mark.

Here a couple of examples:

I just did my first successful roll today. The first attempt had 3 exposures on the roll and half the bottle of Rodinal on the kitchen floor. Not fun. Anywho, the roll was Rollei Retro 80s, and I'm beyond happy with the results. I agitated a bit much, but I was going for really high contrast. That's exactly what I got.
