First roll through my Neoca

Over the weekend I shot a roll of Konica Monochrome VX400 (C41 B&W) with my Neoca 35 IVS. First time using both the camera and this particular film. I decided to shoot mainly architecture and with this I chose historic buildings as my subject. I had to go out to Campbelltown (a suburb on the outskirts of Sydney) to pick up an EOS 1000F I won on eb*y so I took the Neoca there to soot a roll. I am pleased with the results, both film and camera.

Thoughts and comments are always welcome.

These are not from the Campelltown trip (except the headstone). The two shots of the buildins were taken in the suburb I live in (in the inner west of Sydney).

Very interesting, thanks for sharing! How do the lens elements look in that Neoca? It seems that there is not so much lack of sharpness as there is some kind of haze - or was that in the air? In any case, congrats!

The day was overcast and I did overexpose some of the shots a bit and then adjusted them in PSE2. Plus the lab scans I had done are not the best for 35mm. Their MF scans are great though.

Interesting. Can you post some shots of the camera itself? I've never heard of a Neoca before....

Neoca was one of the minor Japanese camera manufacturers who did not make it. Beauty, Tauron, Aires, and to some extent Petri and a few others were in that club. They were quite capable of making nice little cameras - but their market share was limited and in the end, they came to a conclusion. You see them from time to time on eBoy, they don't command the big bucks in general terms - but that's where the true bargains live, anyway.

Interesting looking camera, Heath! Nice big viewfinder, and it appears quite compact over all.

Nice shots ! Doug took me the word, that's a big finder there ! Nice camera indeed. Walz may be another of those 'unknown' manufacturers, their Envoy seems to be a sweet camera as well.

Thanks for all your comments. The camera is quite compact and the ergonomics are just about perfect for my smallish hands. I like the large viewfinder too, but the rangefinder patch is quite dull and there needs to be a lot of contrast in the subject for it to be seen with any clarity. But it is very usable despite this. Now if I could het the rangefinder patch as bright as the one in my Mamiya I would be very happy.

Just found a IV S for 5 euros. Seems to be in good conditions but I probably have to clean the shutter.
