Thanks Andreios...
on my first roll/ Tmax 400 / symmar / 3 shots had 'Those Horizontal Lines' / like ZenLibra had
Can easily be caused by the person who developed the film. If only 3 shots had the horizontal lines, it surely wasn't the camera that caused them. To load the spool to develope the film correctly asks some experience. The best thing to do is to do it yourself. It is easy.
I love the Summar. I just bought a coated one. I will publish the results of it on RFF soon.

Here is what my problem looks like at 1/1000. 1/500 is a little uneven but 1/100 - 1/200 seem okay.

This is another problem than Helens. The slit on your camera is at 1/1000 too narrow, so small dust particles causes the lines. Your shutter has to be adjusted by a competent repairman.
If you want not to do that, simply do not use 1/1000 and 1/500.

Thanks Erik, I will get it fixed in a few months…hopefully everything will be okay until then.

Zenlibra, unless the camera is making horrible noises, no harm is done using it with the shutter needing adjusting.
Those stripes are actually the texture of the cloth the shutter is made of, the slit is so narrow that the bumps of the weave are an appreciable part of the slit width.
Helen has film scratches, plain and simple.

The best camera is one that still works!
Well I used my Leica II for the first time in long time yesterday with the Summitar that has no aperture blades ... permanent f2!
Incredibly easy to focus ... I'd forgotten how easy in fact. One thing that I have noticed with these things is that if you're comfortable with your approximation in your own mind of the 50mm frame lines it's just as easy to trip the shutter while still looking through the rangefinder window.

John, the camera sounds fine. I intend to keep using it for a few months as it is new to me and maybe then I'll send it off.

Lovely color from that Summar, Helen -- pastels and creamy whites. Nicely done!

picked up IIIF BD w/ Summitar last night. both camera and lens are incredibly clean, almost like NOS gear. it's lovely. picked up a Nikkor-P 10.5cm F2.5 that, optically, is just perfect too
excellent! shooting a roll tonight, i've missed using one of these little cameras.
