hi all. ive had one of those really bad 0.45 wide angle add on lenses for camcorders for a while and its got 52mm rear thread(done quite a few shots with a ricoh kr10s with this monstrosity screwed onto a 28mm lens thus giving slightly less than 14mm focal length for full circular fisheye effect!) with a 40,5-52mm adaptor it fits on all my fsu lenses. whilst i havent taken any shots with this contraption on my kiev or zorkis yet i did get it all rigged up on a tripod with the shutter locked open with ground glass to check for focus on both jupiter 8, helios 103 and(what i thought would be best) a jupiter 12.the jupiter 12 is pretty much unusable due to unacceptable vignetting(over half the frame at a guess) and the f stops are inaccessible when his is screwed together.what did surprise me though was the 103 and jupiter 8. get a reallyy nice looking wide angle effect slightly curving like a semi fisheye(sort of) sharpness seems to drop right off at the edges tho (expected this) but could prove interesting. anyone else tried this? once i get some pics done ill try and scan them and get them on here for all to see
cheers
chris

Could you post a few images...J8 and H103...this sounds intriging to me. I just bought a 1960 MIR with a 1959 J8 Chrome Case.*waiting on the International mail train) ...a cheap .45 Wide Adapter. Interesting indeed.

Many years ago I've used one of those fish-eye converters on Canon EOS with the plastic kit lens 😱. At 28mm zoom it was a circular fish-eye, at about 40mm it filled the entire frame for a full-frame fish-eye effect. Focus was way off (meaning it would focus at infinity when lens was in close-focus range). Sharpness was acceptable in center but dropped seriously toward edges. And it also suffered from bad curvature of field.

A funny thing to try, but not worth using IMO.
