Fixing a back cover Contax T2

So...I want to purchase a Contax T2 from someone who says the back cover showing the numbers etc isn't working, and I was wondering if this can be fixed?

She said it's probably the battery, but I'm not too sure.

It's sold at a cheaper price because the aesthetics aren't exactly the best (it's a well used camera), but I was wondering if it's worth purchasing this or spend a bit more for a better one. :/

The seller must have the date back on that t2. It takes a separate battery from the camera itself so whether it work or not has no effect on the camera's functioning.

Regarding aesthetics: it would really depend on how banged up it is vs how cheap it is (assuming it is otherwise working perfectly).
Good condition T2s used to sell for $300 and up when I was looking for one - not sure about now.
