Flickr ... a good thing out of a bad ... the one positive thing has come out of the changes Flickr have made.

They've prompted me to really evaluate how it presents both my stuff and the quality of the online stuff itself ... so after finding the best looking site I could Ipernity, on Joe's recommendation btw, I'm now busy populating it with strictly edited photos.

I'm pleased with the results, it's already looking much better than Flicker's new ghastly layout ... and only has my best photos on there.

If you have time take a look and let me have any feedback, or if you're already on Ipernity feel free to add me as a contact 🙂

looking good! i have given up on flickr...will look into alternatives as well

Looks nice as a paid site, but they soon will enact a policy where the free members can only view their last 200 images. I've a paid account at Flickr and it serves as an easily viewable backup of my images and a source for download when shooting team photos. Ipernity looks like a better place to present images in a more polished environment. Thanks for the introduction.

As a current Flickr 'Pro' member nothing much will change in terms of subscription fees and entitlements but the new lay-out is unbearable. Ipernity is looking very attractive right now.

I never bothered with flickr. Always looked really bad. I didn't bother to check the new flickr and I always wondered why it even worked.

Nice!

Ipernity (odd name ..?) does look interesting.

The new flickr layout is awful, but since I mostly use flickr just for its photo hosting back-end, and don't want to move the 1800 or so photos I have there (breaking all the links that stretch back seven years now), I'll likely just keep it.

I am looking for a better, easier way to display my photos, so I've put Ipernity, Smugmug, Wordpress, and a couple of others on my list to investigate more fully when I have the time.

thanks for this tip!
I think I will switch over and leave Flickr.
The new look on Flickr is horrible and for me a point to leave yahoo for ever!!!

I've set up shop at ipernity, along with a lot of my flickr contacts (many of whom don't pst here). The UI is more like the old flickr and - and this was key for me - gives you more control over how your photos are displayed. I will leave my flickr account in place, but will probably concentrate more on ipernity for new work. And I'm going through the same evaluation process as the OP re: what I post. If you've moved to ipernity, please feel free to list me as a contact.

Ipernity's layout looks more geared toward artist. I have already jumped ship & oped out of flickr for the free option. I now have $13.95 coming back to me.🙂 I will post my trains & odd stuff on flickr & use ipernity for my better, more artistic photo's.

Flickr is a bit more functional for me today but I still don`t like the layout or the fact that the changes were introduced without giving people any options.

I`ve set up an Ipernity account too.

Upcoming "last 200" limit of ipernity really could help me to edit harder.

Though flickr has by far largest picture collection and incredible user base. Want to research lens/camera/material/process? Go flickr.

What to do with flickr contacts? Really don't want to spend twice as much time as now 🙂
