Flying with Fuji FP-3000B

I would like to take opportunity of my visit in NYC to buy a few packs and bring them back to europe, of course in our cabin luggage. Films are 3000 iso and I have a few doubts about the possible (?) x-ray controls in case at the airport they do not hand inspect them. Any idea? Did anyone fly with these film? Thanks

I would probably treat it as I would any high ASA film Robert and either go for hand check, or get those nifty X-ray proof postage bags. Anything beyond 400 ASA is probably not worth risking.

Thanks Black, I agree. I'm only afraid that at the airport they refused to hand check and tells me that I have to pass them through the scanner...if I want to get on that flight!

PS: in the past I ordered these films from NYC and I received them ok, but shipping cost almost double the price!

I've had no trouble at multiple airports getting a hand check of film.

Obviously the TSA does not like to do it, but be polite and insist. You are not breaking the rules so just don't be intimidated. I am sure they can make something up, but its worth a little bit of a fight to get the film inspected if you are worried.

I brought roughly 30 rolls of film with me to Europe and back, along with a Pentax Spotmatic (my girlfriend's camera) and my 6x7 which they hardly believed was a camera (too big, they thought).

One time they pulled me aside and swabbed a bunch of random rolls, but every other time it was quickly checked over and waved on through.

Give yourself plenty of time at every juncture and you'll be fine asking for hand check.
