I'm thinking of trying out a new film and I was wondering if anyone had any advice. I've been considering fomapan 400 because recently I have heard a few members say good things about it. Also I was wondering about arista 400 (the no name stuff sold on freestyle). I had heard at one point that arista is actually fomapan, is this true?

One thing I would like to know is does fomapan push well? I typically shoot my hp5 at iso 800, and I was thinking of doing the same with foma.

Also how well does foma 400 push past 800? Such as pushing to 1600 and 3200?

Anyway, I guess what I'm looking for is a film that shoots well at 800, and can be pushed higher. I want something with good contrast, and I don't mind graininess. I'll be developing in HC110. Does Foma fit this demand or should I try something else?

Arista EDU Ultra 400 is the same as Fomapan 400.
it is very nice film but a tad grainier than HP 5+ and I only use it at 400 ISO.
it is worth a try to push this film though.

xayraa3,

Did you shoot 120 or 35mm and did you have any problems with the film curling?

I used 35mm film and film curling was minimum, not as good as HP5+ but still very acceptable.
