Excellent work. That's a beautiful wood duck (is it a wood duck?) beautifully photographed.

Sorry Ken, but you got the ID wrong. Wrong continent too.
That is a Mandarin Duck. Though it is understandable they have similar markings. Heck I studied wildlife management, including ornithology, and forget the difference between a redhead and canvasback.
However it is a beautiful photo.

Peter, what a masterful image (By the Lake)! Wonderful use of color and composition.

Took my breath away, Peter, and I echo what Murray said. Where, exactly, is the lake? I don't think it's in the US; everyone is too decently dressed.

Ted and Murray thanks very much for your kind words. Glad you enjoy the photo. It is in an inner city park in the city of Adelaide South Australia. A few weeks back there was a three day horse event held there (and each year). I went along to take some photos of the cross country event on the Saturday, and this was part of the crowd. As always in photography its partly about being there with a camera, partly about having an eye for a potential image and for composition, and partly about being able to optimize the image in post processing (to be honest). I knew the reflections of the people in the water, the arrangement of the dinghies (which kept drifting about in the breeze) and the flag with its reflection were the things that would make or break the image and waited for ages for things to come together. Infuriatingly TV crews were on site and all to often a boom camera was positioned exactly where I did not wish it to be. This was a snatched shot when the boom moved momentarily to another position.
