Astoria is a port town. The US Navy was here during WW II. The US Coast Guard is here and is loved by those folks who work on the water because it is the USCG who will save your ass when you are clawing off the lee shore in heavy seas and high winds. The USCG is the "Git 'er done" crowd. And this is the cutter which moors here in town by the Maritime Museum. I liked the light and color. X2D + XCD 120 3.5 macro, 1/6 of a second. That IBIS works when an old geezer can pull off a tele photo like this.

This is a bit blurred, 1/6 of a second may account for that. It is the LLL Elcan just after I received it. It is a nice lens with good color. This was most likely shot at f/2.0 in the Astoria West Mooring Basin drydock.
I ran across this one just now poking around. Same place, this time the M9 has the prototype Skyllaney Bertele Sonnar on it, one of five made. I just like the bright hull against the dark gray sky. 1/4000 ISO 160. Must have been at f/2.0, I forget.
The nautical version of a "shelf queen" the Captain Connor has been in the same spot as long as I have lived in this town, more than two decades. X2D + XCD 55V.
