Nephew at the beach,
Leica M-E, Leitz 5cm f/1.5 Xenon
Are they expensive? I have no idea as I never shoot digital.
The R-D1 (and R-D1s and x versions) has kept its price reasonably well despite dating back to 2004.
Prices are at about $800 for one in good condition.
I bought mine in 2009 for $1600 (including a VC 35mm f/1.7 Ultron) to shoot a friend's wedding, but it's been my favorite digital shooter ever since.
12 years is not a bad run for a digital camera, I think....it does still work, but the shutter fails to open on about one-third of all the exposures. Need to try it with some new higher capacity batteries.
The Leica M-E is great, but I miss the R-D1's shutter cocking lever

I quite like this, Dayrell. Don't know if it was intentional but the composition speaks to me of the continuum of life.
