For those not using lens hoods, just curious, why not?

I just keep forgetting it at home... It takes valuable space in the bag, so I keep them separately and always, always forget them (except for pre-asph lux 35mm which is small enough to sit in my bag permanently).

size, totally... plus, it makes the camera look more serious and seems to intimidate people.

whereas a naked* lens on a Leica, they seem fairly cool with.

* by naked, i mean modestly so -- i do use a filter for protection 😛

I don't use hoods. Basically because of the added bulk. The main reason is that I just don't shoot with light sources inside the frame... And I don't shoot under direct sun unless the sun is totally or a bit behind my camera... And all my lenses have a filter on them always, (yellow, uv or warming) so those extra milimeters help too in case of lateral sun... I don't remember any flaring or washed images in many years... I own hoods, and even carry rubber collapsing ones just in case, but I just prefer to avoid those scenes instead of shooting them with a hood.

Cheers,

Juan
