Anyone ever had any experience with any Fotoman gear? Looks pretty interesting.

I've handled a Fotoman 4x5 in Berlin and must say that I wasn't impressed. It's a nice camera, but it's scale focusing only, so only really interesting with wideangles, and because of the limited DOF of large format you need quite serious wideangles (in the 90 range for 4x5) to make much use of it.
It might be a fun addition to an existing LF system if you have the lenses already and just want something a little more mobile to play with, but all in all I think if one wants to start using large format, the best way to do it is by getting a real large format camera, because there is a lot more extension of the photographic possibilities from the camera than from the large negative size.
The panoramic gear might be more interesting, but then 6x17 isn't really my ballpark - I'm happy with cropping from 6x6 wideangle negatives and enlarging
