I love 1950's quality
I recently found a IIIc built during 1942-43, just like the one my granddad used during the war. The camera has a red shutter curtain. It works good, but sounds "dry", so I will definately send it away for a CLA.
The question I have is: The vulcanite has a big crack and seems very brittle overall (But it is complete). It also lifts off on several places. I'm thinking of getting a new covering from cameraleather.com
What do you think? Will the new covering "de-value" the camera? Should I try to re-glue the old vulcanite or is this a futile undertaking? I'm planning to use the camera, so I'm leaning towards the new covering. Which one of their coverings is the closest to the old vulcanite look?
Thanks!
