FP-100C discontinued

I know if I sold a product but didn't see a future in it or made money from it, my wife wouldn't be too happy with me and would tell me to get out of the industry, regardless of my enchantment with the product. And, even though I have an emotional attachment to this film, I can't blame them too much. I'll probably end up shooting another film instead.

The Land 340 I use was my father's camera. I like to use it because of the photographic process, when you go out and you know you only have ten shots in the camera and you want to bring home at least a few good ones is a special experience...and I feel somehow connected with my father who when I was a kid gave me the passion for photography...

Anyway let's face the reality, Fuji is in the business in order to make money and the decision to discontinue certain film production is only a question of figures..., sales, costs, and...

i would say dont listen to the misses and follow your heart, money is overrated! all jokes aside valid point. this to my knowledge is the last which cameras like hassie, rz67,rb67etc can use with a instnt film back. if i am mistaken then do correct me. i hope im mistaken!!

It is all my fault!
I purchased three packs earlier this year. And Land Polaroid. Used three films and sold it all quickly. Most expensive and bulky way to get dull images.
4x5 back for LF camera was expensive and I sold LF camera as well.

It is dead end, which was replaced by modern Fuji Instant cameras years ago.
I think it is next to discontinue. I see these cameras everywhere from pharmacy to Marshall's on shelves. Covered in the dust.

I've got two packs dated this month. Good thing the weather is warming up. And it looks like I'll be hauling a box of cameras down to Goodwill next month.

I went out for a walk with my dog and thought a while about this FP-100c enigma. Basically Fuji is now selling a lot of both Instax cameras and Instax film. What if they'd make a new camera that would use the current 3x4 size film. it could well be some customers would happily buy the pack film but perhaps would not buy the potential new Fuji 3x4 Instax camera because they already have an old camera that can use pack film.

So what would any sane free market capitalist do in such a situation?

He would of course slightly modify the 3x4 film format and then introduce a new film and a new Fuji camera for the new film format.

Let's see what will happen.

Are you referring to Instax Wide? I wish they'd make a camera with better focusing and more exposure control for the wide film; then I'd be happier. Well aside from the OCD part of me which refuses to shoot it in portrait orientation (but that's an entirely different can of worms).

I suspect that the Impossible Project or someone else will sooner or later come up with instant pack film - there was no point in going there while there was firmly established (and unbeatably cheap) competition around. But technically, it is easier than integral...

The folks at New55 say that this could never happen. It would cost tens of millions to take over the equipment and formulation, and even then you could not equal the quality of Fujifilm's product. The market does not exist to support this kind of investment.

Impossible Project is barely holding on, and that's with a well-known mass-market product and millions of cameras available for essentially free. It would kill them to take on another complicated product with a much smaller potential market.

UGH - I am so sad
Polaroid pack film was THE most fun medium for me- the ability to give out prints on a whim - how photos just pop up when you feel it off - that cold retro tone

Came across this and seriously considered it until I saw the price.

It's a shame, really.

Only some weeks ago I got my Polaroid 330 and I love that cam!
It's fun to shoot with and then peel apart the photo, a bit like home development, just quicker.

I stil have some packs and for two more delivery is pending (due tomorrow). But I guess, we all have to accept that one day we will shoot the very last peel-apart film ever. :(

Reminds me of Kodachrome...

I purchased 6 more packs. 3 for spring break and 3 for our annual Montana trip. The last pic better be a good one! Could be an interesting thread when that time comes. Sharing our last polaroid photo.

Feels like the Kodachrome Blues. I have ten packs of film that I have not yet tried out even once on my Land 250 camera. I will take it slowly from now on ....

B&H had this in the order summary:

In red: more to come

Then:

Estimated Delivery:
Expedited Delivery : 3 Day Delivery

What does all of this imply? Is the film back-ordered or did I manage to sneak in an order that is being filled?

I have two land cameras. One is a 420 and the other is a 450. I might give one away if someone wants to give Fujifilm pack film a try before it's too late.
