I just noticed that my M6 frame counter has stuck on 40.

Is there something I can look at??? Where is the trigger at for it?

Is this common?

Yes this is a common problem with the M6. Early M6 had a stamped metal counter, this was changed to a molded plastic - cost savings - and these eventually had the problem you mention. Requires a visit your repair person if you want keep track of the number of exposures.

Now I am wondering if I am missing something...
I have 2 M3's in front of me.
They are both on 40 also.

How do I make them reset?
The M6 I put a new roll of film in, but I had a bit of trouble.
I wonder if I missed the trigger to reset it.

Can I manually trigger it?

ok... I pulled the film spool from the M3. This reset the counter.
Was I supposed to do something on the M6 while I loaded the film?
I didn't pull anything out from it.

M4 and later with three pronged take up loading should reset to zero when the base plate is removed.

Origional M2 and M3 need to be reset manually:
- the M3 was designed with a removable take up spool, and if you have fitted the Leitz auto load adopted spool and baseplate attachment you still need to remove the spool to reset the counter. Although you could reload a film without a reset if you dont need the counter.
- the M2 is a manual counter, you need to remember to reset it when you load a film, unless you dont need the counter.
